Local Resources for Rolfing Clients

There are many wonderful resources in the Portland, Maine community to support you in your quest for wholeness and well-being. Here are some that I find particularly helpful:

Wildwood Medicine is where my practice is located. They offer Naturopathic Medicine, Physical Therapy, Acupuncture, Community Acupuncture and a Primary Care LNP.

Pilates is a great way to maintain the benefits of Rolfing. Pilates helps re-train poor movement habits and develops co-ordinated strength so you feel great in movement. What I love about Pilates is that it’s a great adjunct to any type of practice, whether it be running, yoga or weightlifting. Reformer classes are especially helpful and are best done with a well-trained and experienced teacher. Portland Pilates is my go-to place.

Yoga is an excellent way to learn to open stuck tension in the body and relieve stress. Studio 72 and Lila are two favorites.

Sometimes during the Rolfing process, people discover that they have emotional issues they would like to process with someone who is trained to help. I am a big proponent of body-oriented psychotherapy which helps people connect thoughts, feelings and emotions through body awareness. By making these connections, people can draw on resources to release old negative patterns and develop new patterns of support. Deb Grant and Celia Grand

My two major professional affiliations are:

The International Association of Structural Integrators
A professional membership organization for Structural Integrators,
trained by the heirs of Dr. Ida P. Rolf.

The Rolf ® Institute of Structural Integration

This institute was founded by Ida P. Rolf in 1971, the Rolf Institute is dedicated to bringing the benefits of Rolfing to the world. Its headquarters in Boulder, Colorado and international offices in Europe, Brazil, Australia, Canada and Japan are the only schools that certify Rolfers and Rolf Movement Practitioners.
